Overview
This was an exceptionally complex project involving the installation of photopoints and interpretive panels on sites along the west coast of Ireland.
What We Did
We were delighted to be appointed as main contractor on this major tourism project. In total we installed the interpretive panels on 196 sites stretching from County Donegal through to County Cork. Of these, 26 were located on remote islands such as Gabla and Toreaigh Island. Given the technical demands and geographic reach of the project, logistics and planning were particularly key to the success of the scheme.
Each bespoke interpretive panel comprised Corten steel signage, artwork and recessed bronze lettering. Our work included reinstatement to include gravel, indigenous stone, precast paving and turf. We also supplied and placed indigenous natural stone to bespoke patterns, constructed footpaths and stone walls, and relocated field gates and stiles. In addition, we installed up-lighting in urban sites (with associated duct work), and laid soft landscaping to complete the schemes, including grass reinstatement and shrub planting.
Key Detail
In keeping with the bespoke nature of each installation, we used local materials, native plants and indigenous stone and turf both in construction and in reinstatement.
