Overview
Design and build of a multifunctional urban sports park and recreational environment (1,300m²) for skateboarding, parkour, BMX, scooter, wheelchair- and inline skating.
What We Did
The V36 Urban Sports Park was built on a brownfield site in an economically deprived area and comprises three distinct sections: Bowl, Street and Plaza, with suitable flow and transition between the areas. Associated landscape works include asphalt concrete linkage paths, fencing and floodlighting.
This was a technically complex project involving a specialist urban sports park contractor, design and completion of design of concrete urban sports park, traffic management, multiple stakeholder input and funder’s programme.
Skate 100 is described by the client as “one of the largest skate parks in the UK and Ireland, featuring a 10-ft deep bowl, ledges, stairs, banks, sharp hips, waterfalls and volcanoes. Skate 100 is designed for thrills, flips and fun!”
Key Detail
Traffic flow between the three separate spaces within the park was a crucial consideration both in terms of safety and user enjoyment.
