Overview

Working with leading landscape architects Park Hood, we transformed an under-utilised, semi-derelict site into a family-centred, shared green space in Belfast city centre.

What We Did

This award-winning garden project, the first of its kind in the city, features a range of unique combinations of play equipment and shared spaces. The scheme involved demolition of existing structures and removal of existing surfaces, followed by trenching for lighting. We laid surfaces and installed bespoke hardwood seating, street furniture and play equipment. The urban greening component included shrub and tree planting, a wildflower garden, and coloured artificial grass shaped over mounds. Beech hedging and planted areas were added, surrounded by low-level fencing and a raised seated area.

Key Detail

Some elements of the project, such as the play equipment and safety surfacing, were our design, our technical experience allowing us to merge aesthetics and functionality seamlessly in this truly special project.

What they said

Simply an exemplar of what designed, inclusive, regeneration is all about. An excellent and inspirational project.
