Overview
We were appointed to install the Industry Lighter (barge) as part of the extensive restoration project of the Lock-keeper’s Cottage.
What We Did
The relatively small footprint of the site presented an early challenge. After site clearance and drainage alterations, we enlarged the footprint temporarily to access for the 350-tonne crane and dual-axle lorry. Subsequent works then included excavation of topsoil, installation of consolidated stone sub-base, piling, surfacing, drainage, kerbing and fencing, lighting and hard landscaping.
Key Detail
Extensive planning and works meant that were able to crane the 50-tonne barge into position in just over two hours. The entire project was completed on time and significantly within budget.
